Scandinavian Illustration

As I am basing my final major project on Scandinavian fairytales I have been looking into Scandinavian design. I like the simplicity of Scandinavian design, this is something I am hoping to capture in my major project. Here are some Scandinavian illustrators who have caught my eye:-

This illustration is by Siggi Eggertsson. I really like the way he makes his designs out of many smaller shapes. Many of his compositions are quite simple but the image on the whole is very intricate because of all the different shapes within. His work can be found on:- www.vanillusaft.com

Janine Rewell is a graphic designer and illustrator from Finland. Her work reminds me of Sanna Annukka’s illustrations, she also has a Scandinavian background. Shape plays a big part in her designs. I like the way she has incorporated text into this image:- www.janinerewell.com

Hvass&Hannibal is a studio in Copenhagen established by Sofie Hannibal and Nan Na Hvass. I really like the use of colour and 3d aspects in their work. Like the other two illustrators I have shown they also use space really well:- www.hvasshannibal.dk
