The Death of The Cock

This is my latest design for my personal project of Russian Fairytales. I’ve decided to have a go at creating children’s book illustrations for The Death of The Cock, a traditional Russian fairytale. This is a double page spread; ideally I’d like to create three more double pages for this project. I looked at the work of Sanna Annuka to try and create the hen and the cock with more of a folk style. Looking at the work of Bob Staake helped me to create movement in the part of the Illustration where the cock is choking. I quite like the movement lines but I’m not sure how well it communicates that the cock is choking on a bean, I might have to revisit this.
