What I thought was very interesting about Gillian's work was her range of influences which included designers, artists, culture and nature. I thought the work of Terry Frost also linked with the simplicity and confident use of space to that of Paul Rand's. His use of colour is stunning as well. P.S Don't forget to use your blog to document correspondence with people in industry, show that you are engaged with current issues in the profession by reading journals / magazines and document what is relevant to you or has had an impact on your work.
Your review of the Gillian Blease lecture should be more thorough, follow up some of the leads that she gave of her influences, explain how she got a foot on the ladder as an illustrator, how she gets work, self promotion, how she has diversified. Don't just leave it as an overview.
