Jim Flora is my favourite illustrator. I look at his work a lot for inspiration, especially his characters. All of his illustrations are really clever and contain lots of ideas. I really like the way he combines two dimensional and 3 dimensional objects. I’ve been trying this in my own work and I feel it’s improved my developing style a lot. I’ve mainly been looking at his editorial work but I’m hoping to get some of his children’s books soon as that’s the area of illustration I’m most interested in. He authored and illustrated many children’s books. It will be good to see the result of how Jim Flora did this as I’m very interested in the practice of being an author as well as an illustrator for children’s books.
